CRUISE SCIENTISTS

CHIEF SCIENTIST
Dr. Peter Lonsdale, Professor of Marine Geology
Scripps Institution of Oceanography

Andy Barbour
PhD Candidate, Geophysics
Scripps Institution of Oceanography

Andy is a fourth-year geophysics student working with Duncan Agnew, studying crustal deformation using strainmeters.  He is a native San Diegan who enjoys surfing, and beer.  In fact, in his spare time, he writes for a beer blog (www.nonsnobbeer.com).
Jasmeet K Dhaliwal
Graduate Student, Geosciences
Scripps Institution of Oceanography

Jasmeet will begin her first year this fall.  She has lived by the beach most of her life and enjoys surfing, sailing and occasionally diving.  This is her first ocean research cruise.

Brian Franz
Graduate Student
Scripps Institution of Oceanography

Brian is a graduate student in the Fluids and Volatiles Lab at SIO and studies volcanic groundwater systems in Northern California. Originally from Santa Barbara, he enjoys just about any activity related to the great outdoors.
James Gibson
Intern with Dr. David Chadwell at the Marine Physical Lab, Scripps Institution of Oceanography.

James is an Undergraduate Earth Science student at UC Santa Cruz interested in Marine Geology and Geophysics.
Brad Peters
Graduate Student, Geosciences
Scripps Institution of Oceanography

Brad Peters is a recent graduate from the Geology Department of the College of William and Mary in Virginia, and is excited to begin work towards his PhD at Scripps this fall.  As a brand new Californian, he is desperately trying to avoid spending all of his free time at the beach so he can find time to remember his old hobbies...rowing and playing the violin.

Mackenzie Roberts
Undergraduate, Earth Sciences UCSD

Mackenzie is a sophomore Earth Sciences undergraduate at UCSD. This is her first trip out to sea with SIO (Scripps), so she is really excited to start learning more about her major and her geological
interests.

Dru Clark
Scripps Institution of Oceanography

The Geological Data Center and the Rolling Deck to Repository (R2R) program.
